ABOUT / "Aboot" (if Canadian)
"Scope In/Scope Out" was born out of the frustration of figuring out what to do outside when you've been to every park or hiking trail you can think of in your city. I desired a site like trip advisor or expedia, but one that would focus on the meat of destinations, not which hotels to stay at. It was so hard finding a comprehensive list of trails to hike, places to camp or even smaller adventures like parks and landmarks. I decided to mix my love of traveling and geography with the ability to guide people to places or just show them what is out there that they're missing. The goal is to cover all the hikes, campgrounds, parks, natural features, scenic views and adventure hotspots that the United States has to offer; and then travel to as many as possible, detailing them for your knowledge so you can choose the best one for your particular position, skill and mood. Eventually the goal will spread into Canada, Europe, New Zealand, South America and beyond.

I enjoy hiking, traveling, writing, photography, dystopian novels, thought-provoking movies and eating tasty food. I was raised near Green Bay, Wisconsin and decided to move to Boise, Idaho in 2015 after dreaming of being "out-west" for a long time. I don't regret my relocation one bit. I owe the passion for this site to my father, who enjoys doing a backpacking trip with me every year, works harder than anyone I know and is always outdoors. I owe the conviction for this site to my mother, who formed a solid foundation for raising me and always encouraged me to pursue my creative interests. I owe the inspiration for this site to my best friend, Sarah, who has always helped remind me that this is worth making and is willing to dedicate time to help make this happen.
